The Power of Video Marketing

The power of videoPrior to the technology that allowed us to record motion, there was never a better way to reach people or touch them in such an intimate level than with video.

Watching movies, television, or surfing the web, because of video, you are not only able to find something that is interesting to you but you often find that you are drawn in and taken away. This is why video is so powerful.  Video allows us to use that power in explaining a message, telling a story or selling a product.  Why is it so powerful? Most professionals agree that it’s we’re so connected with video because it stimulates two of the most powerful senses in our bodies… sound and sight.

Since video activates and uses the most dominate of our senses, we are more than likely to remember the message that is being given to us.  Studies have shown that video is the most influential way to get you message across because we learn better and faster when more of our senses are involved in the process. So, with this knowledge it should make sense that when you begin to market your business using videos to get their message across, it will be more memorable to your viewers than text or audio alone.

As Internet technology has developed so has the feel of Internet. Since the end of the dial-up connection, the Internet has transformed from a static page, to a place where interactivity and video have became much more commonplace.

Sometime during the 1990’s, news began being consumed by more people by television than those who get their news from the newspaper.  Today another change is happening. Video on the web is in real time.  Nobody has to wait for the 6:00 news these days.  With the ease of video recording even amateurs can share information at the moment it is happening.

The use of video on personal websites and of course websites like YouTube and Vimeo is extremely prominent.  The reason so many people are beginning to adopt video as a means of communicating information is because it is a easy, extremely effective, and cost effective.  It’s Marketing 101 that teaches us that people buy on emotion and justify with logic.  This  fact alone clearly demonstrates just how effective video is as a way to connect with your desired audience and reach them on an emotional level. Video has the power to be engaging, entertaining, and educational. Actually hearing and seeing something dramatically increases the chances of getting your message across and they are more likely to retain the information that you are giving them.

Nearly every business can benefit from the use of video. Video, due much in fact to the advent of smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices, is everywhere.  With over 1 Billion users on YouTube alone and 4 Billion videos a day being viewed per day, It’s safe to say that video is here to stay and the use of video to obtain information is going to increasingly be the way people consume their information.
